Don't forget - The weekly Saturday public night meetings & observing sessions at UACNJ for 2008 are underway.
Are you aware that Corzine's proposed budget still permanently closes Jenny Jump State Park?
Trenton is currently building two new state parks in Trenton and Paterson at
a cost of over $20 million while saying that we
can't afford $4.4 million to keep existing parks open. There has been a
sustained revolt against the proposed state budget
that closes nine state parks, including UACNJ's home park, Jenny Jump State
Forest. The governor's response has been
to raise the possibility of keeping the parks open for "passive recreation".
Many breathed a sigh of relief - but perhaps that's
only because most don't realize the implications. "Passive recreation" means no
camping, no swimming, no programs, no
bathrooms, and no maintenance of parking lots or our beautiful trails. All the
parks in the state account for 0.07% of the state
budget. Let the governor and your legislators know that we want the parks, the
services, and continued operational funding.
Please don't sit back and let this happen!

REMEMBER: The only tools we have are our letters, email, and phone calls - please follow through.
NWJAA is a club for amateur astronomers that is based in Warren
County, NJ. The club's primary
focus is
observing. In support of this goal, when conditions are favorable we may
not have much lead
time and the meeting notification will be conveyed through email or phone.
Our primary meeting
location
is at the United Astronomy Clubs of New Jersey (UACNJ) observatory at
Jenny Jump State
Park
in
Hope, NJ.
The requirements to become a member in NWJAA are simple to
meet. Send your name, mailing
address, email, and phone number (so we can contact you about meetings) to info@nwjaa.org.
There are no dues or fees for NWJAA. We are a supporting club of UACNJ,
and as such, you are
encouraged to become an observer which will entitle you to use the Jenny Jump
facilities 365 days
a year and to qualify to operate the
16-inch scope (click "Observer Info" on the
UACNJ site for more
information).
If you have an interest in astronomy, be it beginner or
advanced, why not join the North West Jersey
Amateur Astronomers and get out there to do some observing with us? Just
send your name,
address, email, and phone to info@nwjaa.org.
